isnt often you grab a 4 track EP and find each track worthy of a spin. Keeping
an energetic and soulful consistency throughout, 'Various Voices' delivers several
tasty flavors including funky, deep house and (on the stand out, Zeroids
'Music') enough tribal rhythm and power to move an entire village to the dance
floor." -Review - 411 Nightguide / October 2002 by Paul Dailey ZEROID
- MUSIC Very effective stompy - tribal - house from
Four01 Recordings producer - MattLok. This one has all the right elements of a
great song. Rolling bassline, shufflin tribal percussion with a killer of a build-up
ended with a classic 'ooouuhh', bringing it right back to the rhythm. Feel it!
RENNIE
'DUBNUT' FOSTER - DESERTED Deep tech-house madness
from Rennie. This track is laced with analogue goodness. Bits, rattling shakers
and tweaked freq's are incorporated to create a very solid jam. Hard panned tribal
percussion followed by hard-panned abstract vocals.OOOOHHH! Deep Sounds!
RENNIE
'DUBNUT' FOSTER - MIRROR IN THE MORNIN' Ever heard
"Schlam me" coupled with tight, teched-up bongo blips? Well if you haven't,
then you will enjoy this jam. A dope bass synth rolls along with a tight high-hat
and a vocal that sings- "You, you I see in my mirror in the mornin' Instead
of seein' me"... thanks MG! dJ
dAb - BE GOOD SOUL Fat kicks and solid music is a
formula for success. dJ dAb has captured a pumpin vibe with funky horn riffs and
some vocal snippets added on. Pretty nice from the guy who makes all this record
stuff happen. |

as digital download soon! With
a production resume dating back to '92, Jacob London (Bob Hansen and Dave Pezzner)
are veterans of tech-house scene. Formerly Vitus Dance, Jacob London formed in
'97 as an outlet for their more soulful techno-house hybrids. In '00 Jacob London
joined forces with Jon Lemmon's up-and-coming deep house label Viva! to create
an outlet for the Jacob London sound. Hence squid:records was born. Their tracks
have been remixed by 20:20 Vision / Playhouse affiliate Random Factor (Carl Finlow),
Swedish king of twisted house - Tony Senghore (UTC, Gung, Panhandle) and Grayhound's
DJ Garth. Future remix offerings by Qburns Abstract Message (Astralwerks), David
Duriez (Brique Rouge) and Caliman (Tak Records, UK). "Oh
man, get ready for this shit. Jacob London is turning heads with his mix of funk,
tech-house and tough sensibilities. 'Dont Fear The Peepi' is one of those
solid funky house jams that will rock your peak hour dancefloors and have them
screaming for more..." - Review - FeedBack Magazine by Coy West DON'T
FEAR THE PEEPI Jacob london offers us a chunky slice of Prince influenced
house with a nice throbbing bassline. More grooves than you can shake a stick
at. This one sticks mate! STAY
OUT OF MY POCKETS Awesome track! A tech-house, bongo vibe meets underground
house at its best. A nice hoovering keyboard line accents a deep groove followed
by vocal edits keep the jam glued together for maximum potency - Free the funk
baby! HYDROGENATED
FUNK (RICK V REMIX) Rick V of 'In Tha Mix' fame, offers us a nice slab
of chunk house. A nice tribal beat starts us out, followed by a chicago-ish bassline
and disco stabs enter to create a devastating track. Could be canned by Fiasco,
Sneak and the likes. Proper! HYDROGENATED
FUNK Cool disco groover with synth stabs that build nicely. Should do well
in the clubs. Kinda cut-up disco in the beginning. Progresses nicely into full-on
jam. |

is the first release from dJ dAb's new funky / tribal / disco house label out
of Washington, and if the first release is any indication, this is a label to
keep on your radar. This upbeat record features essential tracks from Vitamin
D, Sean Biddle & Ben Pound (Mile High Club) and a slammer of a distorted vocal
workout by The Floorfillerz. Overall, these tracks have soul and are worth checking
out. Look out for more great releases from these guys in the future." - Review
- FeedBack Magazine / July 2002 by Damon Williams DJ
VITAMIN D - SUBBED DUBBED Nice up tempo stuff, from the man who brought
us, 'The Latin Track' on IHR, the chart-topping 'The Lift' and years earlier had
us all sceaming "give me a mother f*cking breakbeat". Electronic Squelches
and dirty warehouse 4/4 mayhem wrapped in a vocal reminiscent of the early '90
San Francisco house movement. SEAN
BIDDLE - LOW-LIFE Sean Biddle, 1/2 of The Floorfillerz and the Mile High
Club, takes us on a true disco-house journey. 4/4 kick and up front bongos create
the flow for this jam, building on a classic / vocal / disco sample mutilated
all to hell. Props to the funk! Similar to 2 Black Ningas, Rhythm Masters and
Stacy Kidd. THE
MILE HIGH CLUB - MILES AHEAD Possibly best known for their release on OM
Records, Mile High Club's Sean Biddle and Ben Pound, deliver the goods. Layer
upon layers of disco, funk, stereo-percussion and a sound derived from a '80s
classic, will pack the floor. Do your homework! This is Miles Ahead! THE
FLOORFILLERZ - GIVE SOME LOVIN' The Floorfillerz aka Dj Vitamin D and Sean
Biddle, have consistently released and remixed tracks for too many labels to mention.
They're at it again with a house groove for the new millennium. Beautiful breakdown
with shuffling hand claps and a female vocal hook that sings "touch me, give
some lovin". Quality Stuff here folks! |

are so lucky to have hooked up with, what we consider to be, a techno genius -DJ
ESP Woody McBride. Woody delivers the goods here with what we expect to be a big
one- the GRINDER EP. GRINDER
Awesome dirty house - techno workout. Slamming 4/4 beat with detroit influenced
keys rock, then... Boom!! Sub-bass kicks are layed over the track. This is real
pleasing to the ear. Frequencies are the highlights. Twisted! EXCITER
Another treat, 4/4 workout with moody pads that enhance the techno-ish beat. Deep
subs come in halfway for added mayhem. Sounds like trancetters but new. Always
need one of those in the box! DECEIVER
Oh my word! This is a 12 minute slab of what techno is meant to be. Muddled bass
and whirling effects, topped off with jackin snare roll edits. Fans of Green Velvet
/ Chi-house will be interested. Phat all the way through. The shit! |

Anderson's unique production style and his thirst for hard funky beats, has him
well on his way to making a serious mark in the underground scene. His tracks
are played by the worlds top DJs, like DJ Dan, Carl Cox, Terry Mullan and many
more. In the early '90s Chris teamed up with Andrei Morant to produce tracks for
Labworks, Germany, as well as their own releases. Both Phreak 3 and The Syndicate
- 'Thud' received international attention, with 'Thud' being played by Billy Nasty
on BBC radio. His Blubba Boy Remix for Caffeine is still being rocked by DJ Dan
and Angel Alanis and many others. His track 'Overdose' on Catalyst was featured
on Donald Glaude's 'Off the Hook' CD on Moonshine, and Scott Henry's 'Buzz' CD
on Ultra, as well as getting hammered all over the world. No
Bullshit EP' made it's white label rounds, creating quite a stir at the 2002 Winter
Music Conference, first played to the masses by the Super - Dj Carl Cox at Crobar
and Nikki Beach, Miami. 'Rolling
Bass' was featured on a Ministry of Sound exclusive radio mix by Olav Basoski
and is featured on 'Carl Cox - Mixed Live 2' at Area 2 - Detroit (Moonshine Music
- Nov 2002) MOTHRA
Tribal-techno as the title might suggest. This funky bass-driven builder offers
a classic tribal chant and a crazy "whoop" the emanates from parts unknown.
Beware of the 'Mothra'. WATCH
OVER THEM A fierce Nu-school break-tech jam, complete with a hard 909'ish
kick. Watch out for the solid percussion and tweaky noises moving wildly from
left to right. Chris is the man! ROLLING
BASS Gritty techno, shuffling mid-highs and a steady house kick thump moves
through your system. Monster tune alert!!! Warehouse territory. |

was first featured as the opening track on the Moonshine Mix CD release 'Donald
Glaude - Off The Hook' which has sold over 20,000 copies, but until now had not
been released to vinyl. "dJ
dAb and Donald Glaude team up to produce a pair of pumped-up party rockers. 'Lost
In The Matrix' has enough wiggle between the bombastic beats to get the girls
going, while 'Loop Road' brings the pain for the speaker freaks." - Review
- URB Magazine / August 2002 by Timothy Brown LOST
IN THE MATRIX dJ dAb and Donald Glaude unleash some scorching 4-on-the-floor
techno beats with a touch of filtered edits and a subtle backing break. This one
builds higher and higher then drops a sonic boom on the dance floor that will
leave the crowd helpless to the rhythm. LOOP
ROAD Intelligent yet aggressive techno with a hint of tribal percussion
and a build-up that will bring down the joint. Pure energy exudes from the tight
kick, crisp highs and deep penetrating bassline. WATCH OUT! |

while Chris Anderson's funkier tracks, "Mothra" and "Rolling Bass"
have been picked up by the likes of Sir Carl Cox at the WMC 2002. dJ dAb, Donald
